Presidential elections were held in Sequoyah on 1 April 1876 where Sequoyans elected the country's first president. Ahuli Kanuna of the Republican Party was the only candidate as monarchists boycotted the election. Kanuna won 15,639 votes and was inaugurated on 20 April 1876. The election was held following the Republican Revolution.
