General elections were held in Creeperopolis from 19 to 22 December 1887. Voters elected all 30 members to the country's newly-established National Parliament (commonly referred to as the Second Parliament). The election was the first nationwide election held in Creeperopolis since the partially-recognized 1740 general election held by the Republic of Creeperopolis during the Republican War.
The 1887 general election, held the year prior, resulted in widespread protests and riots. Ordóñez Yepes called for a snap election in 1888 to appease the protestors and rioters. Additionally, the number of seats was increased from 30 to 155, the number of registered voters was expanded from 113,418 to 4,929,520, voters in all twenty-one captaincy generals were allowed to vote, and more than two political parties were allowed to participate.
