History

Prehistory (1.8 million BC — 5000 BC)

Human remains unearthed in the Luminara caves, dating approximately 1.8 million years ago, mark the onset of human presence in the region.

The first settlements in Storosnova date back to 5,500 BC, with the Neolithic structures of Astralara being one of the oldest known human constructions. By the end of the Neolithic era, the Karankia, Hamanova, and Selestiya cultures thrived, extending beyond Storosnova into neighboring territories. The region's first known city, Radiantopolis, stood as a beacon of civilization in the Storosnova area.

Around 4,800 BC, Storosnova's neolithic era witnessed the rise of the Aetherian culture, characterized by a sophisticated social hierarchy. The epicenter of this civilization was the Eclipsara Necropolis, discovered in the early 19th century.

Grape cultivation and livestock domestication are milestones associated with Aetherian culture in the Bronze Age. Cave paintings in the Karo and Novos caves, though the exact years of their creation remain a mystery, depict the interaction between ancient inhabitants and the nature of their environment.

Ancient era (5000 BC — 434 AD)

Around 5000 BC, a group of Slavic peoples known as Storosnovans migrated from the south of Ostlandet for the region that today corresponds to Storosnova. The exact reasons of this imigration remain unknown, but it is speculated that it may be related to climate changes, demographic pressure or in search of fertile lands. Upon arriving in the region, the Storosnovans came into contact with the Aetherian people. The Storosnovans carried out raids and pillages against the Aetherians; at times, these confrontations evolved into more extensive conquests, with the Storosnovans taking control of Aetherian territories. Over time, the Storosnovans gradually assimilated a large part of the Aetherian population. This process of assimilation contributed to the formation of a hybrid identity. From this cultural fusion, the Storosnovans established tribal kingdoms, marking the beginning of a more structured political organization.

In 257 AD, the Despotate of Aetheria arose and soon managed to conquer most of the other Storosnovan tribes. From 300 AD onwards, the Despotate began to become more authoritarian and oppressive. In 325, a woman appeared commanding an army against Aetheria, her name was Erika of Gothburg, not sure where Gothburg was or if it was a city that was destroyed by the Aetherians. Erika led several revolts and several victories in battle, reports from the time say that she was sent by God to free the Storosnovans, in 334 in an important battle where the Despot died and Aetheria fell, that same year Erika was crowned queen of the Kingdom of Gothburg and nicknamed The Founder.
